Janusz Steller
CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
Dr Janusz Steller graduated in 1977 from the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry at the University of Gdańsk in the field of theoretical physics. Since then employed at the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IMP PAN), where he earned his PhD degree in technical sciences in 1984. In 2019 the Senate of Wrocław University of Science and Technology awarded him the DSc degree. Currently retired, still professionally active serving as a senior specialist at the IMP PAN Centre of Heat and Power Engineering. His professional work focuses on the study of cavitation and cavitation erosion, as well as other issues related to hydropower, including performance and diagnostic testing of hydroelectric units. In the past, his work also involved hydropower machinery design calculations. Dr J.Steller has been a member of the PHA Board since 2004 and served as the IMP PAN representative to ESHA (European Small Hydropower Association) from 2004 to 2014.

Graduate of the Institute of Hydraulic Civil Engineering at Gdansk University of Technology. Since 1982 professionally connected with hydropower industry. Till 2021 chief specialist on hydraulic civil engineering in ENERGA Wytwarzanie SA. Since 1997 in the Polish Hydropower Association (PHA), in the years 2003-2008 and currently – Secretary of the PHA Board. Founding member of the All-Polish Association „Respect to energy and environment” SAPE Poland. Author of numerous publications popularizing hydropower technology.

PhD in engineering, having graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Gdańsk University of Technology in 1998. From 1998 to 2013 employed at the IMP PAN. In 2005, he defended his PhD thesis on flow modeling. Between 2013 and 2020 with the ZRE Gdańsk Co. Subsequently, he was employed by T-G DNALOP, a Polish subsidiary of Thordon Bearings. Since the beginning of 2026 with the Polish branch of Voith Hydro and the IMP PAN. His areas of expertise include the design and testing of hydraulic turbines and pumps.
